Parliamentary Ombudsman
The Parliamentary Ombudsman receives, analyzes and forwards complaints made by natural or legal persons about irregularities or illegalities practised on the Public Administration. It has the duty to respond to questions from citizens or entities about actions taken by the Chamber of Deputies, besides forwarding complaints or representations to the Public Prosecution, to the Federal Audit Court or to other competent organs. The Parliamentary Ombudsman is composed of a General Ombudsman and two Substitute Ombudsmen, nominated by the President of the Chamber, with a two-year term of office, reappointment being forbidden. The actions of the Parliamentary Ombudsman are widely publicized by the House’s communication organs.
