Next Wednesday (July 6), at 2 pm (Brasília time), the Human Rights and Minorities Committee of the Brazilian House of Representatives (CDHM) will debate the case of journalist and activist Julian Assange, who has been deprived of liberty for the past 12 years and is about to be deported to the United States.

Family members of the WikiLeaks founder and lawyers are invited to the event.

For Deputy Orlando Silva (PC do B/SP), President of CDHM and author of the request that gave rise to the public hearing, Assange revealed “confidential data that showed serious violations of human rights”. The request was also signed by Deputy Marcio Jerry (PC do B/MA).

The public hearing will take place in a hybrid way and will be broadcasted on Youtube in Portuguese and English.
