The Commission for Tourism and Sport approved on 8 Wednesday the Supplementary Bill 579/10, which grants exemption from municipal services tax (ISS) to the International Association Football Federation (FIFA) for the operations linked to the 2013 Confederations Cup and 2014 FIFA World Cup. This exemption is part of the commitments made by Brazil with FIFA.

Economic impact
The rapporteur, deputy Carlos Eduardo Cadoca, defended the Executive Branch's project, highlighting the positive impacts that two competitions will have for tourism and sport in Brazil.

According to the company Value Partners, a member of the Consortium 2014 Cup, the economic impact could reach R$ 183.2 billion, i.e. direct: R$ 47.5 billion and indirect: R$ 135.7 billion.

It is planned to come to Brazil 600,000 international tourists, and they will spend R$ 3.9 billion, besides travels with 3.1 million of domestic tourists, who will spend R$ 5.5 billion. Investments in infrastructure will be roughly R33 billion.

Cadoca also points to the 'intangible benefits', for example, the consolidation for the image of Brazil as an important tourist destination; dissemination of regional tourist attractions; expansion of domestic tourism; and the jump in quality of tourism services.

The Executive Branch's project goes to the commissions.
