The Chamber is analyzing the Bill 4667/09, from the Executive, which institutes the Olympic Act, with the objective to ensure guarantees related to the candidacy of the city of Rio de Janeiro to being the siege of the Olympic and Para-Olympic Games of 2016 – Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The bill also establishes special rules on the games.

According to the bill, foreigners working in arrangements for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games will have the requirement of visas waived; the passport, the ID Card and the Olympic Accreditation will ensure their the entry in Brazil. But those foreign workers will be forbidden to exert any other function, except the one linked to the games, and their permanency under those conditions will be restricted to the period from July 5th to October 28th 2016, and can be prorogated for up to 10 days, provided that it is justified by the organization committee.

Work Permit
The foreign professionals entering Brazil outside of that period, to work at the organization of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, will have their work permit exempt from the collection of fees or any other charges. The validity period for the work permit will vary according to the professional category of the foreigner and to the need and relevance of his permanence, which should be justified by the Organization Committee of the Rio 2016 Games.

Still according to the bill, federal government will make available for the games services such as security, sanitation surveillance, customs and immigration, free of charges to the organization committee.

The bill also authorizes the government to designate resources to cover possible operational losses suffered by the Organization Committee of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, provided that the Ministry of Sports, Planning, Budget and Management; and the Finance Ministry are heard.

Procedure
A special committee will be instituted to examine the matter, which was deemed conclusive and priority character.
