Committee on the Budget approves R$492,000,000 for 16 ports

Committee also approved resources for PAC management

On Tuesday (26), the Joint Committee on the Budget approved the Bill of the Congress (PLN) 1/09, which authorizes R$492,080,000 from the Federal Budget to the Special Secretariat of Ports, which reports to the Presidency of the Republic. Those resources will be used for dredging and promoting navigability in 16 maritime ports, in 10 states.

The works are part of the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC). From this year to 2010, a total amount of R$1.26 billion will be invested in them.

The bill received a favorable review from its rapporteur, Deputy João Carlos Bacelar (PR-BA). It will now be analyzed at the House Floor of the Congress, but that date has not yet been set.

Participation
The resources, which will come from National Treasure, were divided according to the volume of the dredging to be done. Each port will be granted as following (in Reais):

- Port of Itaguaí (RJ) - 20,000,000
- Port of Rio de Janeiro - 31,000,000
- Port of Angra dos Reis (RJ) - 5,000,000
- Port of Vitória (ES) - 15,000,000
- Port of Natal (RN) - 18,500,000
- Port of Recife (PE) - 25,200,000
- Port of Suape (PE) - 53,000,000
- Port of Fortaleza (CE) - 42,300,000
- Port of Aratu (BA) - 28,600,000
- Port of Salvador (BA) - 36,000,000
- Port of Paranaguá (PR) - 50,000,000
- Port of Santos (SP) - 40,000,000
- Port of Itajaí (SC) - 3,080,000
- Port of São Francisco do Sul (SC) - 26,000,000
- Port of Imbituba (SC) - 4,400,000
- Port of Rio Grande (RS) - 84,000,000
