Xi Jinping (L): Brazil has been reaching great success in the way to development, and therefore earns highlight

On Thursday (19), the president of the Chamber, Michel Temer, received the Chinese vice-president, Xi Jinping, who was in an official visit in Brazil.

Xi Jinping said that the objective of his visit was to deepen friendship and to intensify the economic cooperation between the two countries. Brazil is currently the largest commercial partner of China in South America, and China is the second partner of Brazil, after only the United States.

The Chinese leader highlighted that Brazil and China are the two largest countries in development in the world, and said that both should face together the effects of the international crisis. He also stressed “the support given by the Chamber and by the Senate to China regarding the issue of Tibet”.

He also said that, during those 35 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations, there has been a high-level relationship, which has been improving day by day. For the leader, Brazil has reached great success in the way to development, and therefore earns highlight in the international scenario.

Collaboration protocol
Michel Temer reminded that a collaboration protocol with the Chinese Parliament was signed, and announced that, very soon, a group of congresspeople will be organized to visit the National Assembly of China.

According to Temer, the contact between parliaments fosters political, diplomatic and commercial interchange between the two countries. Temer also reminded that, in a recent meeting with the minister of Foreign Relations, Celso Amorim, the government had asked that Congress expedite the international agreements with several countries, especially with China.

The president of the Chamber also stressed the approval, on Wednesday (18), of the Bill 1664/07, proposed by the deputy William Woo (PSDB-SP), which reopens the term for the request of provisory residency for immigrants in irregular situation.
