Ministry investigates a process against Uruguay dumping

In the hearing attended on Tuesday (11) by the Committee on Agriculture, Animal Industry, Supply and Rural Development, the representatives of dairies manufacturing and industry requested Government’s support to obstruct the entry of countries such as Uruguay, that produces less milk than the city of Goiás, in the Brazilian market with more competitive prices by means considered dishonest, such as Government's subsidies.

According to the discussion participants, this would damage the entire productive chain in Brazil. The representative of the Ministry on Economic Development, Commerce and Industry, Aneli Franzmann, clarified that the folder follows a process against dumping, in the case of Uruguay. According to her, the Government is aware to other countries cases that intend to accomplish an entry in the Brazilian market.

According to the representative of the Brazilian Cooperatives Organization (OCB), Vicente Nogueira, nowadays, more than four million families depend on the dairy farm activity and the GDB (Gross Domestic Product) of the industry reaches R$ 64 billion.
